I just don't think it makes sense to write using language you wouldn't normally speak with. I think it's very disingenuous to pull archaic language out of your ass to seem more intelligent, unique, or whatever. If the guy actually uses language like that day-to-day, then I'm fine with it. Language isn't "Deteriorating", it's just always changing. If you had visited the east end of London during the 1800's, you'd probably say the same thing about the local cockney dialect.
